REFERENCE FOR ROB LITTLEJOHN BUILDER 1998 LTD

Robin Littlejohn was the building contractor for a new residential dwelling I designed for a site at Waipu Cove, Northland. The project was undertaken during 2010. It involved the demolition and removal of the existing house, then the construction of the new house (this comprised three independent structures connected with a covered walkway) along with the associated courtyards, decks and site works integral to access and services.

The project was tendered to several local building contractors, and run as an architect administered SCC1 contract.

The site is very exposed, situated on a reasonably steep hillside immediately beside the coast. Despite some logistical challenges and weather setbacks trying to close in during the winter period, the project was completed in a reasonable timeframe, and to a very high standard of construction.

Robin and his team took on the task with enthusiasm, and communicated well at all times. They were proactive in assisting with detail solutions, while respecting the aesthetic intent of the design. They are experienced in building unique and complex architectural projects.

The end result in this instance was a building which in many ways exceeded my expectations.

Most importantly, the client is extremely happy with their new home.

I will look forward to the opportunity of working with the Littlejohn team again on future projects when the opportunity arises.
